Kenyan healthcare facilities operate with paper records, unequal documentation quality, and no interoperability across facility levels — from tier-1 national hospitals to tier-3 community health centres. Patient histories are lost when patients move between facilities, referral chains break down without shared records, and consolidated countrywide health insights for research and NGO reporting are impossible when data exists only in scattered paper files.

Designed a phased product strategy: (1) deliver a fully functional clinical administration system on day one per facility — covering patient registration, appointment scheduling, consultations, prescriptions, laboratory work, pharmacy, and billing — so each facility benefits immediately, (2) as the network of adopting facilities grows, the standardised data schema becomes the substrate for cross-facility patient-record sharing, enabling a patient's history to follow them regardless of facility tier, (3) wider objectives including interoperability across the referral chain, equal quality of documentation across facility levels, and consolidated countrywide insights for research and NGO reporting become reachable because the network already exists. The Nyalife Hospital Management System serves as the first live instance, built with 33 Eloquent models, 73 migrations, Spatie Permission RBAC, and Playwright end-to-end tests.
